Food was good. It came out from the kitchen fairly fast. The waiter checked in with us often. The tables are really close together. The noise level was high.
Just as good as the original location downtown. I had the swordfish kabob and it was amazing. Service was fantastic. Get the saganaki for an app!
Upscale Greek restaurant located in Lombard and 2 minutes away from local attractions near Yorktown. Widely diverse menu with tasty authentic Greek food and desserts. The atmosphere is traditional & vibrant, and really cool centerpieces spread out throughout the restaurant. Food is usually pretty oily but always generous with portion sizing.
I always enjoy the food here. I've met friends or family for dinner here, and once attended a party in a private room here. The family-style atmosphere and traditional Greek food is very comfortable and the service is friendly and warm. I can remember at times having to wait a while to be seated, so if you're there on a weekend for dinner, give yourself extra time. Favorite dishes included the Saganaki (flaming cheese appetizer), lemon chicken, lamb shank, and the vegetable plate, which is a tasty sampler of vegetable sides and appetizer options. It's usually a rather expensive place, but portion size is ample, so we often have leftovers. I have always left here feeling pretty full.
We’ve been coming to Greek Islands in Lombard for nearly 30 years, and it’s still the original and the best! Yes, we had about a 40-minute wait on a busy Saturday night, but absolutely worth it. Our waiter, Don, was hustling with a full section, yet he remained efficient, friendly, and attentive. The food? Perfect as always. The red house wine paired beautifully with everything. The saganaki was fire (literally and figuratively!)—such a fun start to the meal. The shish kebab was juicy and flavorful, and the stuffed peppers were seasoned to perfection. What really stands out is how the entire staff works as a team—hustling, smiling, and making every guest feel welcome. After all these years, Greek Islands still has that same energy, charm, and incredible food that keeps us coming back. They’ve still got it! Highly recommend.
It’s a solid Greek Restaurant, get the Saganaki ( flaming ) cheese, everyone does it. My advice is get some apps, enjoy courses and then share salads / entrees. My favorite appetizers were the charred octopus and warm pinto beans. My entree was the roasted lamb. Very good. I’d consider fish next time, the selection looked fresh and high quality. I’d say the food is very good. It’s not the best I’ve ever had so I have to reserve that 5 star for something but would definitely return. Service was great.
Outstanding to say the least. Leg of lamb, Saganki. Greek salad. Chicken. Incredible Rice Pudsing
We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, and the restaurant was full. Our server was quick and funny. The menu and drink menu are huge. We started with the fresh bread, saganaki, and hummus. Both were delicious. We enjoyed gyros, chicken, beef kabobs, and pastitsio. Everything was delicious. We all shared a dessert. They have tons of options too. So save some room.
